Fade is a first-person puzzle game prototype developed in Unity. The player moves through a series of puzzle rooms governed by a unique mechanic: whenever the player moves, surfaces become intangible.

As a result, walls, floors, and physical objects temporarily vanish while in motion, forcing the player to think before acting. The challenge lies in solving each room with the least movement possible, blending logic, spatial awareness, and careful planning.

Each puzzle room offers a distinct challenge — from light platforming to physics-based problem-solving. The game draws strong inspiration from Portal, encouraging creativity and experimentation through controlled constraints.

My Work

Level Design

  • Designed and built eight unique puzzle rooms, each centered around a different gameplay idea.
  • Created levels involving both precise movement and physics-based interactions.
  • Designed situations where falling heavy objects could launch the player toward unreachable exits.
  • Took inspiration from games like Portal to build challenges that reward logic and experimentation.

Development

  • Implemented the core mechanic controlling intangible surfaces during movement.
  • Integrated lighting systems, collision logic, and key audio feedback for puzzle events.
  • Maintained technical consistency across rooms, including sound triggers and physical interactions.
