Cloud Deck is a physical card game combined with an AR companion app, designed as an educational tool to help IT teams understand and practice cloud architecture principles.

Each round, players are presented with a business need and must assemble the most suitable cloud architecture using cards that represent technologies, team roles, and budget constraints. Players position their squad and resources on the table, and strategic thinking is required to balance cost, scalability, and reliability.

The experience is enhanced through the AR application, which visualizes the player's infrastructure in 3D and introduces hostile agents at the end of each turn — these enemies attempt to disrupt or destroy the architecture. This added layer of pressure reinforces learning by requiring players to identify and fix weak points in their setup, simulating real-world scenarios in a gamified format.

Cloud Deck is both a serious game and a collaborative exercise, bridging tabletop interaction with digital immersion to teach cloud concepts through play.

My Work

Game Development & Technical Production

  • Trained in AWS technologies in preparation for the Cloud Practitioner Certification.
  • Implemented core systems using AWS EC2, S3, DynamoDB, and Lambda services.
  • Developed an AR mobile app (Android) using Unreal Engine 4.25/4.27 Source and ARCore.
  • Installed and configured Unreal Engine Source, resolving Git-related and engine-level bugs.
  • Authored detailed technical documentation for installing and maintaining Unreal Engine Source builds.

Game & Narrative Design

  • Designed and implemented a voice-narrative game on Amazon Alexa as a prototype extension of the experience.
  • Produced the complete Game Design and Level Design documents.
  • Created interactive narrative flows and decision branches tied to the card and AR mechanics.

UX/UI & Prototyping

  • Designed Figma mockups for the physical/AR hybrid board game interface.
  • Coordinated the 3D printing process with external studios for physical components (cards, tokens, board).

Production Workflow

  • Applied Agile/Scrum methodologies during development sprints with strict delivery timelines.
  • Collaborated with interdisciplinary teams to synchronize physical, digital, and narrative elements.
  • Developed VFX on Unreal Engine 4 to enhance in-app feedback and event visualization.
